Concierto Pastoral (1977) (Flute and Piano)
Concierto Pastoral (1977) (Flute and Piano) By Joaquin Rodrigo, Published By Schott, Includes flute part and piano score.
The Concierto Pastoral by Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo (1901 - 1999) was written in 1977-78 on the request of Sir James Galway, who will be the first to tell you how difficult the piece truly is to perform. Unfortunately, this piece will never be to flutists what the Concierto de Aranjuez is to guitarists: one of their seminal works. Those flutists without the fingers to pull off the first movement will find the second (and to some extent the third) movement to be much more approachable, and one of the most haunting and beautiful pure melodies we find in the flute concerto repertory.
This Piece made it onto our list of The 19 Best Flute Concertos Not by Mozart.
