Concerto In D Major (Flute and Piano)
The D major Concerto for flute and orchestra by Saverio Mercadante is one of the three that he wrote for the flute. However, unlike the other two, for this Concerto does not exist the score, which has been reconstructed following the original orchestra material found in the library of San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples. The present arrangement for flute and piano is made according to this source which we can consider fully reliable. The first modern performance of this work was given by Jean Pierre Ramal and Claudio Scimone with the English Chamber Orchestra.
