Headwaters (Flute Choir)
Headwaters (Flute Choir) by Peter Senchuk, Published by Forest Glade Music Publishing.
Instrumentation: Alto Flute 1, Alto Flute 2, Alto Flute 3, Bass Flute 1, Bass Flute 2, Contrabass Flute, Sub-Contrabass Flute. Commissioned by the NFA's Low Flutes Committee for the 2017 NFA convention in Minneapolis, Senchuk remembered Lake Itasca, the reputed headwaters of the Mississippi River. The resulting piece for low flute ensemble begins as placidly as the lake waters suggest, with long, harmonice entrances. Little by little, Headwaters gains in energy and complexity, as befits the creation of the river celebrated throughout our history. Headwaters is another Senchuk piece that was premiered at the 2017 NFA Convention.
